Mr. Mulbah S. Jackollie, Principal, Booker Washington Institute

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

I bring you warm greetings from the BWI Family as we enter into another era in the history of Booker Washington Institute (BWI). As you may be aware, BWI is in a transition from secondary vocational/technical institution to a degree granting technical college over the next three to five years. The transition of this noble institution is long overdue in the minds of many Liberians. Over the last several years, the transition has been discussed at various places by different levels people including alumni, government officials, policy makers, business entities, etc. However, as the saying goes, there is time for everything and this is the time that God has chosen for the realization of the dream of the Liberian people.

Indeed, we must bear in mind that the transition of BWI to a technical college is a monumental task that anyone can imagine. It requires enormous material, human and financial resources to develop competent staff members, improve infrastructures and modernize training areas with contemporary tools, equipment and machines. With our faith in God almighty and resourcefulness, we are confident that BWI will be a world class technical college in the shortest possible time. We have embarked on the process with vigor and wisdom under the guidance of the Board of Governors, the Commission on Higher Education/MOE and the Alumni Association. We are therefore appealing to all well meaning Liberians and friends of Liberia to support the BWI Technical College. It is our hope that the present government will make BWI one of its legacies. Keep in mind firmly that victory for BWI is victory for the Government and People of Liberia especially thousands of youths in despair after fourteen years of conflict. Therefore, take pride in being a part of this success story. Give hope to youth
